Achieving Zonta’s vision requires changing attitudes and laws. Zonta Clubs and members work to bring about needed changes to our laws. We engage with like-minded organizations and individuals to generate broad-based support for changes that build a better world by improving the lives of women and girls. Our key areas of focus are advocating for gender equality, ending gender-based violence, and ending child marriage.

We advocate for change to Maryland laws. Our elected representatives need to know that their constituents support legislation. Your voice makes a difference! As a member of the Maryland Legislative Agenda for Women (MLAW) we participate in activities that set the annual MLAW legislative agenda. Given recent U.S Supreme Court decisions, a key focus of the 2023 MLAW agenda addresses women’s ability to make independent choices about their health care.
As an international organization, we work to build a better world. Zonta’s service projects and education programs empower women and girls throughout the world.
Importantly, Zonta International holds General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and Participatory Status with the Council of Europe.
As a holder of General Consultative Status, Zonta International participates in the annual March meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. Learn more about CSW and register for free (and virtual) events.
We advocate for change to U.S. laws. The Zonta International USA Caucus unites Zonta Districts and Clubs in the USA to coordinate advocacy at the national and state levels. Our current focus is on eliminating child marriage, ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and ending gender-based violence.
