The Annapolis Club has a Z Club which consists of students from Severn High School. These special students are involved in several service projects and will add their projects, special events, and subsequent calendar to this page.
THE SEVERN SCHOOL Z CLUB
The Severn School Z Club (SSZC) was established during 1984-1985. The SSZC received its charter in May of 1985.
The limits of time, resources and membership throughout the school year do not deter the SSZC from implementing or accomplishing a project. The club sponsors various events and projects throughout the year to raise money.
Over the years the SSZC has made a name for itself by hosting an annual fund raising event, a variety show. The show’s talent is drawn from the student population to provide many acts, from comedy to music, for the show. The funds raised during the event are given to a charity that has special meaning to the club members – as an example, one year the funds were given to the American Cancer Society in memory of a favorite teacher who was stricken with cancer during the school year. The next Variety Show will be held on March 2, 2013.
The SSZC makes a difference in the community by giving Thanksgiving turkey dinners and Christmas gifts and food to two or three large families. The club members personally deliver their bounty to these families to provide a more meaningful holiday for them.
Besides these annual Z Club activities, the members participate in a number of other activities to help their community in various ways.
The Zonta Club of Annapolis is proud to mentor the SSZc stepping in only when truly needed. After all, the Z Club knows what is best for its club and there is no better way to celebrate life’s successes than to make mistakes along the way.
